Obituary of Jacob Allen Philip Proskow

PROSKOW, Jacob Allen Philip

November 10, 2004 – June 2, 2018

Peacefully being cuddled by his parents and lying next to his sister and surrounded by family, Jacob Proskow of Sherwood Park earned his angel wings in the PICU at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.  In his too short of life Jacob faced many challenges and he faced each one with a smile on his face and a heart full of love.

Left to cherish his memory are his heartbroken parents Kris and Melanie Proskow.  His little sister and greatest love Lily Hope Proskow.  His Baba Kathy and Gido Phil Lester and his Grampa Al Proskow.  His Aunt Kimberly Lester, Uncle Sean McAuliffe and cousins Katya, Michie and Kenley Lester.  His Uncle Kelly, Aunt Holly, cousins Lauren and Alana Proskow.  He was predeceased by his twin sister Sarah Katherine Marafta Proskow and his paternal Grandma Bonnie Brown.

The family wishes to thank all of their family and friends that have supported and loved them.  An extremely special thank you to our pediatricians Dr. Rehana Chatur and Dr. Lyle McGonigle, the PICU Intensivists, the Stollery nurses, respiratory therapist and all staff that made a difference in our lives. A huge thank you to all the caregivers that made a difference in our home and helped keep him home longer with us.   So many people worked with the family to give Jacob a wonderful 13 years of life.  He will forever be missed.  Thank you Jacob for making a difference in this world with that beautiful smile.

Prayers will be held at the Northern Lights Funeral Chapel, 4304 – 50 Avenue in Bonnyville on Friday June 8, 2018 at 6;30pm.  Funeral will be held at the Glendon & District Seniors Club, 5202 – 51 Avenue Glendon on Saturday June 9, 2018 at 10:00am.  A celebration of life will be held at the Log Cabin – Sherwood Park Community Hall, 50 Spruce Avenue, Sherwood Park on Sunday June 10, 2018 at 2:30pm.  The family asks that at the celebration of life you dress casually in bright colours and/or wearing a star wars or superhero shirt.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital specifically the PICU and the Neurosurgery Kids Fund.  There will be a donation box at each service.
