The Cold Lake Lodge will miss Dietrich and his kind gentle spirit. We will remember fondly many memories from the first time we met Dietrich and Wally in their matching outfits to very sweet memories of a beautiful couple who shone as an example of a dedicated union of two people who loved and cared for each other deeply. Dietrich shared his experience and talents with the lodge on many occasions. We showcased his beautiful bird carvings on more than one occasion and he even took the time to give private lessons to our activity coordinator, Kathy. A true example of a gentleman in every way. Our deepest thanks for allowing us to know him and be a small part of his life. From Leanne and the staff at the Cold Lake Lodge.

Opa,
I could start to describe how important you are in my life but I would be probably be writing for days.
We were all so lucky that you could meet my daughter's Amelia and Violet throughout the years. Unfortunately time never seems to be enough until it's gone.
You could do anything it always seemed to me. Your ability to reverse engineer a fix was remarkable. I see many of your traits in my own mother and myself.
You and Omi were always a safe haven, I fondly remember spending many summer weeks with you both at Mountain Lake campground. Those were some of the best memories of those years I have!
I look forward to meeting you again on the other side although, hopefully not for a long time I have so much to accomplish still.
You are irreplaceable and will be missed by many!
Love the Chenard Family

We were a military family many miles from our own family. Opa showed our children what is was to
have a grandfather. The love shown to Laura and James are treasured memories for our family and now, with grand kids in our life, Alasdair chose to be called Opa, before Dietrich’s passing, to honour the love shown to our children. He was special man. We send love to the faimily. Heather and Al Gray
