Paul is survived by his sister Stella Lasecki.
Immigrating to Vilna from Poland in 1929, Paul relocated to a farm in Ardmore in 1945 with his parents Walter and Rose and his sisters – Stella, Mary and Sophie. Here, Paul laboured long and hard, but with love, for the next 74 years. As a bachelor, Paul was a farmer, a trapper, a hunter, and a lumberjack. He also worked as a goldminer in Yellowknife. On July 18, 1954, Paul married the love of his life and the best cook in the world -Lily Pilipchuk. Together, the couple created a humble, but gracious rural life where family and friends were always welcome and Lily was often putting on the coffee for enjoyable visits. Paul loved and respected the land and all it provided. His enduring passions were his cows and farming, his dog(s), and his 1961 John Deere tractor. His family will always treasure his remarkable storytelling, twinkly eyed smile, hearty laugh and firm handshake.
Paul was predeceased by his parents – Walter and Rose Chernik, sister Sophie Chernik, sister Mary Zajac and son-in-law Tom Alyman.
