It is with great sadness that we learned of Paul’s passing. When we came to buy eggs, we would be treated to some of Paul’s comical experiences. With a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face, he would continue to entertain us with the next memory. Paul was a very kind, generous and helpful neighbor. We hope that Paul’s memories will bring comfort to the Chernik family.

This sad news was difficult to hear. I loved rolling into the yard, seeing Mr Chernik on the tractor and then coming into the house to sit at the kitchen table with company. He would tell us stories with a twinkle in his blue eyes and much laughter. Surrounded by the amazing aroma of Mrs Chernik’s baking and sharing time, the memories are so vivid. Our last trip to the farm was a few years back and we were grateful for the visit. Paul Chernik is a good man, gracious, neighbourly and proud of his family. His is a significant loss and we wish Lily and the family comfort and peace. May your memories carry you through ♥️

We were saddened to hear about Paul's passing. Our sincerest condolences to the entire extended family. We have many good memories of visiting Paul on the road, or him insisting we come into the house for some of Lily's great baking. He had a great sense of humour, and always had time to visit. He shared many stories, and Ulf always enjoyed hearing about Paul's younger years up to the present. Paul enjoyed his cattle, and offered many management tips to Ulf, some he heeded, and some not so much. Paul and Lily were great neighbours for many years.

We offer our condolences to Auntie Lily and to Uncle Paul’s whole extended family in this time of loss. We have such good memories of smiling visits with Paul and Lily over coffee, and of Paul’s daily “neighbourhood patrol”. When we were out on our walks on the local roads, we would often meet Uncle Paul, driving slowly around in his half-ton, looking at crop progress and staying abreast of local happenings. He always had time to stop for a few minutes of pleasant visit, including a few digs at the government of the day. Because Paul and Lily were our only relatives in the area, we would usually be invited, with Stella and Paul, to the Chernik house for hospitable Christmas dinners and celebrations. We miss you, Uncle Paul, and you will always be in our memories.

Wishing you all warmest condolences. Paul was a good neighbor. He was always there to help. I remember when I was very young the time Paul and David rushed over to save the farm from burning down when my mother accidently lit the yard on fire in very dry conditions. Another time, when I was about 14 and home alone, I phoned over to ask Paul if he could come over to help me save one of dad's cows that had its horns stuck under a wooden feeder. Paul rushed over so quickly that he missed the driveway and ended up in the ditch. But, he saved the cow and I was very grateful. I remember Paul as being kind and loving to laugh (except when moving cows). Paul's dog now lives next door and my mother just loves having her there, and the dog gets a little spoiled. RIP Mr. Chernik. A good neighbor.
