Robin Margaret Black Kettle (Sipistakii – Owl Woman) – February 23, 1980
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robin (Sipistakii – Owl Woman) on July
25, 2020 in Cold Lake Alberta.
She was the Junior Calgary Native Friendship Centre Princess in 1996-1997; where she participated in
powwows both in Canada and the United States, as a Traditional Dancer. She attended P.I.C.S.S. up to
grade 10 and she worked with Primco as a room attendant. She was a proud mother to one son Blaze
(Latisha) Black Kettle. Robin was known for her kindness, laughter, and she liked to joke around. She was
always willing to help others out.
Robin participated in the Calgary Stampede every year with her family’s tipi. She was strong with her
beliefs in her Catholic and Blackfoot way of life and teachings, which she learned from her grandmother
Maggie Black Kettle.
Robin is survived by her son; Blaze (Latisha) Black Kettle her parents; Robert and Monica Muskego; her
brothers; Cody (Maheengun), Robby, Emmett, AJ, PJ Black Kettle and David Muskego. Aunties and
uncles; Yvonne Conrad, Daphne (Kelly) Good Eagle, Joanne (Duane) Red Old Man, Doris Black Kettle,
Marcel (Beatrice) Muskego, Felix Muskego, Bernice Cowden, Carmella (Leo) Muskego, her traditional
sisters; Joanne Good Eagle, Nikki and Jeneen Black Kettle, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends.
Robin is predeceased by her grandson, Carter Black Kettle, her brothers; Mervin Good Eagle, Brian Black Kettle, maternal grandparents; Maggie and Nicholas Black Kettle, paternal grandparents; Alfred and Mary Anne Nadabelle, niece; Mariah Black Kettle, aunties and uncles; Gerald, Pierre, Caroline, Francis, David, Lawrence, Helen, Martha, Brenda, Denise, and Rita Muskego.
A Wake was held at Cold Lake First Nations Band Hall in Cold Lake, Alberta, from 2:00 pm July 29 until 10:00 am on July 30, 2020.
Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:00 am.
Interment follow at Cold Lake First Nations Community Cemetery, Cold Lake, Alberta.
