KUNISKI, John
John Alexander Kuniski passed away from natural causes in Golden, British Columbia on June 25, 2013 - 4 days short of his 80th birthday.
John was born in 1933 in Iron River, Alberta. A second son to Effimia and Aksenty Kuniski of Sandy Rapids, Alberta. He was a younger brother to Fred Kuniski, who predeceased him in 2001, and an older brother to twin sisters Lena (Rusnak), who predeceased him in 1977 and Mary (Smith) (Oszust) who presently resides in Golden BC.
He also leaves to mourn his daughter Debbie (Alexander) and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in BC and Alberta.
John was an avid outdoors man and hunter who enjoyed spending endless hours exploring his surroundings; whether that was by foot, on the quad or with his snowmachine. He was also always well informed about current affairs and was ever ready to discuss or debate the issues of the day.
There was a Celebration of Life in Golden / Birthday party held on June 29th in Golden, BC. A visitation was held on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. at Northern Lights Funeral Chapel, Bonnyville. A Funeral service was held on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sandy Rapids Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Reverend Father Nicholas Orest Rauliuk. Interment followed in the church cemetery with honourary pallbearers: Darlene, Garrett and Lance Pulak, Katelyn, Anik, Richard and Michelle and John Oszust, Janet Slawuta and Gena Tarnawsky pallbearers were Ron and Randy Rusnak, Patrick Slawuta, Len, Ken, Ron Oszust.
