Obituary For Herman van Ree 06 April 1945 – 12 December 2009 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Herman van Ree announce his passing at the age of 64 years. Herman van Ree leaves to mourn his beloved wife Dolores Emily and his devoted stepchildren Matthew C. M. Aseltine, Ken-Dell L. E. Aseltine and Tonia J. Foesier (Erin); Granddaughter Faith T. Foesier. In addition, mourning Herman is his mother Cornelia van Ree, his sister Geertruida Davis. His father Gijsbert predeceased Herman in October 2003. His extended family and many friends and will sadly miss him. Herman passed away while living each day to the fullest on 12 December 2009 after a courageous struggle with ALS at the age of 64 years. Herman was born in Soest, Netherlands, immigrated to Lethbridge with his parents and younger sister. While living in Lethbridge Herman was a member of the 18th Field Artillery, Reserve Forces. Herman was a Sheet Metal Mechanic and had a variety of jobs within this trade. For 5 years, he instructed at S.A.I.T. and had a long-term career with Horizon Heating. Herman was an avid dart player until ALS sidelined him. Herman was also an avid fan of lacrosse and hockey. Herman's biggest sport was tractor pulling, with his pink 'Tasmanian Devil' tractor. Herman pulled all over Alberta, Saskatchewan and even in the USA. It was through tractor pulling Herman met the love of his life Dolores and they were married in 2006. Herman was a man who would do anything for anybody and had a smile that will forever be etched in our hearts. At Herman's request, no service will be held. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the A.L.S. Society of Alberta (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
