Obituary of Helen Elizabeth Runzer

On Saturday, February 25, 2012 Mrs. Helen Runzer of Glendon passed away at the age of 87 years. Helen will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her son: Roy (Sheila) Runzer of Glendon; grandsons: Everett Runzer, Vernon Runzer and Dale Runzer; dear sister: Amanda Baxter of Calgary; as well as her nieces & nephews and all their families: Susan(Glen) Millis, Blair(Gail) Baxter, Laurie(Peter) Hodgins, Lorne(Kelly)Baxter, Don(Gloria) Saar, Allan(Nora)Saar & Myrna Saar. Helen was predeceased by her husband: Peter Runzer, brother Arthur Saar, and her parents: John & Elizabeth Saar. Helen grew up near Stettler Alberta. Upon completion of High School in Delbourne, she attended Garbett's College in Calgary. This led her to a lifelong career using her exceptional secretarial and accounting skills. She worked primarily for Canadian General Electric in Calgary, E.I.D. in Brooks, and for the Village of Glendon. Upon her marriage to Peter, Helen also had the added responsibilities of being a farmer's wife, first in Moose Jaw, then at Brooks, and finally Glendon. In that role there were many things she had to do, but she most enjoyed picking berries, making jam, raising chickens, and doing the farm bookkeeping. Also, her three grandson's brought her great joy, and because she lived so close to them, they have many precious memories. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Glendon RCMP Hall with Pastor Kelly Sibley as the officiant. Interment followed at the Union Cemetery in Glendon. Pallbearers were: Roy Runzer, Everett Runzer, Vernon Runzer and Dale Runzer. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to the Glendon Agricultural Society or the Glendon Cemetery Association.
