KOZAK, Maria July 1, 1923 – December 29, 2011 Maria’s hands are folded silently in prayer. You could read quite a story in the calluses and lines. Years of work and worry left their mark. Sacrificed unselfishly with her hands and heart to make life complete. Maria Kozak passed away peacefully at Bonnyville Extendicare on December 29, 2011. Maria was born on July 1, 1923 to Gaena Chyz and Nicholai Doobovski in Rewiatycze, Belarus. In 1966 Maria married Alex Kozak at Beroza, Belarus and arrived in Canada in 1967. Maria was predeceased in death by her husband Alex, her parents Gaena and Nickolai Doobovski, her brother Leo, sister-in-law Maria, sister Anna Gates, brother-in-law Harry Gates and two nephews. Maria is survived by her niece/Godchild Anna (Symeon) Sadovsky of Minsk, Belarus, special nephew Walter Chyz and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Northern Lights Funeral Chapel, Bonnyville, Alberta with Very Reverend Igor Kisil celebrating. Interment took place at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery, La Corey, Alberta.
