Obituary of Mary Welsh

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our best friend, mother and grandmamomma on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the age of 81 years. Mary will be sadly missed by her children; Daniel Justik of Edmonton, AB, Joanne (Marty) Michaud of Bonnyville, AB, Bonnie Justik of Bonnyville, AB, Barry (Cindy) Welsh of Fort Macleod, AB, and Barb (Trevor) Norlin of Fort Macleod, AB; grandchildren: Dean (Melonie) Michaud, Tina Michaud, Mitch (Debbie) Michaud, Keith Justik-Ackerman, Kory (Alisha) Ackerman, Kris Zubiak, Katie Zubiak, Scott Norlin, Tracey (Lorne) Hunt, Carla (Mike) Adam, Todd (Christine) Norlin, Rob Welsh, Christy (B.J.) Boot; 25 Great-grandchildren; siblings: Linda (Larry) Oro and Jim Ince (Jerry Webber). Mary was predeceased by her husband; Robert G. Welsh; sisters: Leona Bakke, Ella May Thrasher and Eileen Odynski. Born December 25, 1929 in Red Willow AB, Mary arrived in Bonnyville with her husband Victor Justik. Here, from 1948 to 1974, Mary engaged in a committed and active role in the future development of a then fledging frontier community. In 1977, Mary Belle was remarried to Robert G. Welsh, a rancher, farmer and loving husband; and moved to the community of Ft. Macleod, AB. For the next 35 years Mary and Bob brought their two families together in feast, celebration and lived life to its utter fullness. Mary never waivered in her strong sense of family, her soft heart and stubborn resolve. Not even in death. Her honest opinion, like it or not, could always be relied upon. Perhaps mostly, Mary will be remembered for the priority, focus and love she placed upon her children and grandchildren. For this we are indebted and she shall be missed all the more... A celebration of Mary Belle’s life was held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the St, Louis Parish Centre in Bonnyville, AB at 11: 00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Fort Macleod, AB.
