Leo Peter Jacknife March 18, 1921 – June 5, 2009 On Friday, June 5, 2009 Mr. Leo Peter Jacknife of Cold Lake First Nations passed away at the age of 88 years. Leo will be lovingly remembered by his children: Clifford (Alice), Joyce (Marc), Edith (Alton), Darlene (Allan), Connie, Darrell (Pat), Wilma, Karen, Maryanne (Gene), Loretta and Cody his adopted children: Ann, Nancy, Irene, David and Darrel his grandchildren: Shan, Robin, Jimmy, Chantelle, Brent, Jeff, Shelley, Sammi, Heather, Steven, Troy, Seanna, Brandy, Kyle, Daralyn, Nathan, Cody, Tanis, Justin, Kaitlyn, Jana, Molly, Melissa, Dana and Haley, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren his sisters Melanie Desjarlais and Emma Gladue. Leo was predeceased by his wife: Alma, son: Allan, granddaughters: Drinda and Margaret, parents: Maggie and Napoleon Jacknife, sisters: Margaret, Flora, Ida, Lucille and Aldina. A prayer vigil was held on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Jacknife residence, Cold Lake First Nations and Monday, June 8, 2009 Spiritual Centre. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Raphael’s Parish, Cold Lake First Nations with Father Rene Realuyo as the celebrant. Interment followed at the Cold Lake First Nations Community Cemetery with honourary pallbearers Jonas Alex Desjarlais, Francis Desjarlais and all of Leo’s children. Pallbearers were Alton Ellingboe, Allan Sinclair, Gene Badger, Mike Jacknife, Thomson Swan and Tony Stienhauer and cross bearer Melvin Tourangeau. Northern Lights Funeral Chapel Ltd. were in trust of arrangements.
