Obituary of Peter Wizniuk

On Thursday, September 3, 2015 Mr. Peter Wizniuk (Sledgehammer Pete) of Bonnyville formerly of Glendon passed away at the Bonnyville Covenant Health Centre the age of 82 years with his wife Shirley at his side. Son of Andrew and Wasylena Wizniuk; Petro Wizniuk was born July 11, 1933 on his parents farm where he also grew up near Glendon. Peter was the second youngest of 9 children; Bill George, Nick, Steve, Mary, Kay, Rose and Jenny. Peter married Shirley Rebecca Strymecki in 1957 at Terrace, BC before returning to the farm at Glendon. They had three children; Larry (Amy), Valerie (Lee Shaw) and Gordon (Emmie). Then the grandchildren; Jessy (Liza), Justin (Naiomi), Anthony (Nicall), Stuart (Kyla), Sacha (Shawn), Steven (Leah), Peter Andrew (Rebecca), Brittany, Rebecca (Doug) Maggie and Sarah. Which lead to great grandchildren; Kaleb , Kara Lyn, Reese, Conner, Jovy, Marly, Alyna, Zoe, Kate, Sophie, Grace, Ewan and Ilona. Peter was predeceased by his daughter, Valerie Shaw, his parents, Andrew and Wasylena and his siblings; Bill, George, Nick, Jenny and Kay. Peter was a heavy-duty mechanic and loved farming, horses, playing guitar, singing, playing pool and cooking. He enjoyed many hours volunteering with seniors and people with disabilities for over 25 years. Following Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service.
