Obituary of Rose Schjonning
SCHJONNING, Rose
November 6, 1930 ~ September 11, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rosemarie Schjonning at the age of 93. Rose was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many.
Rose will be forever remembered and loved by her daughter: Eileen Kirby; grandchildren: Keith Kirby, Tricia Kirby, Kristie Brown (husband Kyle); and her cherished great grandchildren: Jacob, Kayla, Sammie, Austin, and Kayd.
Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband: Ole Schjonning, 2016; son-in-law: Erwin Thompson, in 2022.
Born in Germany, Rose immigrated to Canada with her husband, Ole, who was born in Norway, in 1955. Together they worked tirelessly, first owning a farm, then a restaurant, and later running a successful vacuum and sewing repair shop in the Cold Lake area. Their partnership was built on hard work, dedication, and a deep love for family.
Rose was a woman of many talents. She was a gifted artist, who generously donated her beautiful paintings to local charities. She also had a passion for quilting, gardening and cooking, excelling in each of these hobbies. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the smell of her delicious meals, as her family was the cornerstone of her life.
Rose will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, generosity, and hard work will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A family celebration of Rose’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haying in the 30’s in her memory.
Respectfully submitted by Rose's daughter Eileen
I will miss you Mom, more than words can say,
In my heart you will always stay.
My hearts will ache with sadness,
with silent tears that flow,
for what it meant to lose you
no one will ever know
Unseen, unheard, you will always be near
So loved, so missed, so very dear.
Today, tomorrow, my whole life through
I will always love and remember you.
