Sincere condolences to Yvonne and John’s family
John’s passing will leave a huge hole in our life – for over 20 years when we were in Bonnyville we would see him almost daily and when we are away, we talked to him several times a week
A short time ago – John stopped in and gave Ed the keys (which he has had for many years) to the farm back – Ed told him to just keep them – he said he may be moving If he was still here in the fall would get them back from Ed
So glad we had such a good friend in our life – rest in peace John

Pretty much every Saturday morning at Jennie’s Diner and Sunday’s at 5011. ( Neighborhood Inn) , We would get to say good morning to “Mr Parker” as he stopped in for his morning cup of Joe. Whether he stopped in at the table for a sit down and some good conversation and /or story or two there was always a smile on his face. He was always one to crack a joke or give or receive a good ribbing and share a laugh.
Great man will be sadly missed

I met John in 1961 in Ottawa, we were both in RCMP training in N division. When he got there he entered a raffle for a car. I believe it was a 49 or 50 ford with a lot of miles. It was considered a troop car and kind of for everyone if you knew John. I used it several times. After I left Ottawa, he had some medical problems which resulted in him leaving the force. I didn’t see him for about 15 yrs. I came to Bonnyville in 1978 and there he was at radio shack. Over the years we have met had coffee numerous times, the latest was recent when he showed me his latest toy VW. I will miss him as there are not many of us left from those days.
My greatest sympathy to all the family.

My memories of John start back in my early teen years. As a shy kid I would spend daily lunch and after school hours in the musical instrument section at the Radio Shack store. John would watch me drool at the fancy Fender Guitars on the wall and watch all the local players picking tunes at the store. He was always encouraging and told me to keep practicing. 40 years later I have been extremely fortunate to have played with some amazing artists and I still play the same blue Fender Stratocaster he sold me in 1985. His kindness and encouragement will never be forgotten. Rest easy and thank you John.

To the family of John,
Although I just met John this past year with his many visits with my Father, he always made me laugh. He brightened the room by being there and I will never forget his kindness and acts of caring. When I think of John, I will remember what he gave back. He cared about people and always had time to share a story and tried to take away the troubles of the day!
You will be missed John. The world lost a soul that cared about others! May you rest in eternal peace.
With sincere condolences,
Janell Shandro
