Obituary of Richard William John Jack
September 28, 1964 – February 15, 2024
Richard William John Jack, 59, of Cold lake, Ab, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after a short but courageous battle with cancer on February 15, 2024 in Cold lake, Alberta. Richard was born in Kimberley, BC to John and Doreen Jack on September 28, 1964.
Richard had an illustrious career with the Canadian armed forces until his retirement in 2007. The highlight of his career was the time spent as an instrument electrical technician with the Canadian Air Force (431 squadron) “Snowbirds” in years 1994 and 1995. After Richard’s retirement he became a skilled safety specialist with many companies around the Lakeland area, where he was highly respected. Even after Richard’s complete retirement in 2019, you would always hear him giving someone a piece of safety advice. Richard had a strong passion for snowmobiling. All winter long you would find him in Revelstoke BC on top of the mountains. In the summer you would most likely find him at the lake camping and boating with his beloved wife Cathy.
Richard is survived by his wife, Catherine Desjarlais of Elizabeth Métis Settlement. Daughters; Erika (Matt) Lawlor, Kimberely (Kole) Reid-Schoen, Step daughter; Trudy (Jeff) Desjarlais, Brothers; Leslie (Corrina) Jack, Bruce (Catherine) Jack, Parents; John and Doreen Jack, Grandsons; Chase, Heath and Konnor and multiple nieces and nephews.
Richard will dearly miss all his friends and family, especially his 3 cherished grandsons.
There will be no formal funeral or internment, a celebration of life will be held summer of 2024.
