The time you got me and Christina to make apple pie with you from the crab apples in the garden. We picked and, peeled them together, and you showed us how to roll the dough and how to make the crust. The pie smelled amazing and tasted even better. It was one of the best days and best pie i've ever had.
When you fixed the side window on my car, like a puzzle and put it together with tape, it still holds strong today. I was so upset when the window shattered, but you didn’t get angry or blame me. You just got some tape and scissors and worked your magic. You made me feel better. You always knew how to fix things.
When I lost the tip of my finger in an accident and couldn’t bear to look at it after I got it stitched, you would check it every day and clean it and rebandage it for me. You were so gentle and caring, and you always had advice or when i could start to look at it showed me how to care for it on my own. Like many of my injuries over the course of my life, having a nurse as a mom is something so special. I think it should be a requirement of all moms.
The first time I met your sister Lynn, I never saw you laugh so much, it was so infectious I don’t think I laughed so much either. You two were telling stories and making jokes. I could see the love and joy in your eyes. Lynn was so warm and welcoming to me and helped me dye my hair red! You and your sister had such a strong bond.
When I was 6 years old and going to karate class, I didn’t want you to go. You stayed and watched all my practices after that, even when I got older and didn’t want you to. I’m glad you did. You always encouraged me and I gained confidence. You taught me the value of discipline and respect.
When I lost my silver chain necklace, you knew how much I liked it and was saddened by not having it. You got me an even better one for my birthday and had them solder the clasp so I’d never lose it again, including etching my initials in it. I’ll never stop wearing it. You surprised me with the new one, and it was the most thoughtful and generous gift ever. It made me feel closer to you.
When I was a teenager and kept losing my phones, You noticed that I was constantly dropping or forgetting my phones, so you decided to make me a device that would keep them attached to me. You bought some lighter leashes from the gas stations, and you attached them to my phones and my belt loops. They were simple but effective, and they saved me a lot of trouble and money. You also made one for yourself. You were so ingenuitive and clever.
Mom, you were a blessing to me and to everyone who knew you. You taught me so much about life, love, and happiness. You were always there for me, no matter what. You were my rock and my hero. I love you, Mom, and I miss you more than words can say. You were the best mother anyone could ask for, and I will always cherish the memories we made together. Thank you for being my mom. You will always be in my heart.
