Obituary of Susie Verna Josephine Jacob (Dumais - Cardinal)
November 14, 1970 ~ January 9, 2023
Susie Verna Josephine Jacob (Dumais-Cardinal), passed away peacefully the morning of January 09th 2023 at The Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert, Alberta with her husband Stephen D. Jacob by her side at the age of 52 years. Susie’s family is saddened but relieved that she will no longer be suffering from many ailments that caused her much pain.
Susie is survived and missed by her dear children Kelly (Joey) Cote, and Tristan Masson, her loving husband Stephen D. Jacob of 14 years, his children Sterling (Melissa) Jacob, and Landon Jacob, and her stepfather Brian Foreman
Forever cherished and remembered by her nine grandchildren, Mila Bourget, Jemma Bourget, Silva Cote, Mackenzie Jacob, Tucker Jacob, Triston Jacob, Elise Jacob, Cali Jacob, and Chace Jacob.
Her memory lives on with her siblings and their families; Brothers James (Valerie) Cardinal, Raymond (Muna) Cardinal, Dave (Mireille) Cardinal, Vern (Eileen) Cardinal, Peter (Diana) Cardinal, Paul (Wind) Cardinal, and Gabe (Leona) Cardinal, her sisters Benji (Austin) Dumais, Marlene Cardinal-Stanners, Pauline (Eric) Mawer, and Daveen Cardinal.
Susie was predeceased by her mother Helen Dumais, loving adoptive Mother Gladys Gauthier, her father Arsene Cardinal, niece: Danny-Joe; her brother Daniel Cardinal, sister Elizabeth Dumais, and beloved pet cat Xzon.
She was born in Edmonton, Alberta at the Charles Camsell Hospital on November 14, 1970 and grew up in Bonnyville, Alberta where she attended Duclos School. As an adult she graduated her paramedic studies through SAIT in Calgary and acquired separate certificates through the University of Alberta and CDI college. Later on, in life Susie met her husband Stephen D. Jacob in Bonnyville and together they moved to Saint Albert where they eventually bought a home and have resided together all these years. Some of her greatest joy came from the pride she had in her children and her grandchildren.
Special Thank you to all the medical staff who’ve take care of and helped my mother through the years, Alice and Eva John for always being there when we needed, KellyTurzanski for the beautiful service arrangements, sisters Pauline, and Marlene along with family members who helped prepare and arrange her memorial meals, and loving pallbearers Tristan Masson, Pete John, Zach Stanners, William Mawer, Paul Cardinal, and Jared Gadwa.
Visitation, Friday, January 20, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Northern Lights Funeral Chapel, Bonnyville for anyone who would like to pay their respects.
Funeral Service, Saturday, January 21st 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at the Bonnyville Community Church with Pastor Ken Jagessar officiating, then she will be laid to rest peacefully at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, La Corey, Alberta. Everyone is invited to the Bonnyville Community Church for a meal in Susie's honor following the interment.
