Obituary of Paul Peterson Gaugler

May 5, 1965 – October 9, 2022

On Saturday, October 9, 2022, Paul Peterson Gaugler of Bonnyville passed away at the age of 57 years.

Paul will be lovingly remembered by his siblings; William Gaugler, David (Ellen) Gaugler, Faith (Mark) Hunt, Hope (David) Bradley, Mary (Colin) Balan, and Joseph (Carla) Gaugler, 25 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Paul was predeceased by his parents; William (2009) and Ruth (2016) Gaugler.

Graveside memorial on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 12:00 pm at the Rife Community Cemetery.

The anticipation of Paul’s arrival,

turned to disappointment and little joy.

This baby was different…he was not right.

What they did not know was they had a “Special” boy.

Somethings were difficult for him to comprehend,

like walking and talking- those skills took a while.

But God gave him something from the start,

the ability to laugh and that “Special” smile.

Reading and writing were things he couldn’t do.

Some called him retarded-just plain not smart.

Paul didn’t mind not knowing those things,

cause he knew how to be a friend.

He had a “Special” heart.

Paul didn’t care if you had money or fame,

if you were poor or living life in disguise.

He could see through all those things,

to a person’s inner beauty. He had “Special” eyes.

Listening to gossip, rumors or negativity

was something Paul never learned in all his years.

But he could hear a baby cry, a kitty purr,

or the beat of a dancing tune. He had “Special” ears.

Yes, Paul was “Special” in so many ways.

He could brighten your day or give your spirit a lift.

Some of the world seen him as a burden,

but we considered him as our “Special” gift.
