On Saturday, November 8, 2014, Amanda Lee Metchewais-Houle of Edmonton passed away at the age of 29 years. Amanda will be dearly missed by her husband Jake Houle, her siblings; Gary Metchewais, Burt Metchewais, Gail Hamilton, Valerie Paproski, Shawna Janvier, Walter Janvier, Clayton Metchewais, and Byron Metchewais, numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and aunties. Amanda was predeceased by her parents; Arlene Janvier and Charles Metchewais, grandparents; Pierre and Genevieve Janvier and Pierre and Annie Metchewais, sister: Carrie Anne Janvier and her brother: Blair Metchewais. A visitation was held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 5-8:00 p.m. at Northern Lights Funeral Chapel , Bonnyville, Alberta. A prayer vigil was held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Northern Lights Funeral Chapel with Father Rene Realuyo officiating.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Cold Lake First Nations with Father Thomas Dieu Nguyen as the celebrant. Interment followed at Cold Lake First Nations Community Cemetery with Clayton Metchewais, Byron Metchewais, Earl Steinhauer, Trevor Houle, Steven Wuori, and Christopher Wuori as pallbearers.
