My name is Alannah buffalo I'm one of Marlene Smiths granddaughter and I really miss her I loved when she'd come over and visit me and my family and when my parents fought my Kokom always took us into her house cause she knew we had no where else to go I remember when I was 9 we had a picnic outside of my house my Kokom came to visit and my cousin to Aniya smith and my Kokom and mom gave me, Aniya, keedin and keisha money to go the the store and I missed it when we'd have holidays together most of my cousins and auntie and uncles kokoms came for the holiday dinner it was so fun watching my family all laugh and having fun with each other until October came and she got sick I remember it was September and it was my older brother's birthday and my Kokom didn't come in the house cause she was sick so she stayed outside in her car and just after that she passed away my mom told me and my siblings the news one day when we woke up and my siblings cried and I was just standing there holding back my tears I just wished I had more time with her she was so beautiful and funny I really love and miss her so much.
Marlene was my kokum she was one of my favorite people to be around with.
But then October 9th she was just gone I was only 12, I thought she'd stay with me and our family forever. But I guess I was wrong, my kokum was so beautiful and had a wonderful laugh and was happy she had fun with me and her grandchildren, our memories will always be with me. My name's Keisha Buffalo I'm 13 now I'm Marlene Smith's granddaughter.
