On Friday, October 3, 2014 Mrs. Marie Sarah Grandbois-Scanie of Cold Lake First Nations passed away at the age of 71 years. Marie will be lovingly remembered by her husband; Donald Scanie: children; Louis Grandbois (Grace), Arlene (Pierre) Montgrand, Rita (Eugene) Billette, Cathy (Taza) Piche, Marlene Grandbois (Al), and Pamela McNeil: adopted sons and daughters; Wayne Lasas, Jeannette Catarat, Al Lasas, Jessica Grandbois, Kevin Scanie and Jennelle Grandbois. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her siblings; Annette, Leonnie, Melvina, Lawrence, Willie, Wayne, Clifford, Trish and Sylvia. Marie was predeceased by her 1st husband: Jean Baptiste Grandbois, son: Philip Grandbois, grandson: Steven Alexander Machatis, parents: Jean Marie and Catherine Iron and siblings: Leon, Ronald, Louis and Raymond.
A wake was held on Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, 2014 at the Cold Lake First Nations Spiritual Centre. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Parish with Father Thomas Dieu Nguyen as the celebrant.
