Porter Karen Anne
On 12 September 2020 Karen Anne Porter passed away at 69 years of age. Karen was born 10 April 1951 in Eugene Oregon to Andy and Margie Imperiale. Karen spent her youth between Eugene OR and Chicago IL, after school in Chicago she worked part time at her father’s restaurant and her uncle Pat’s restaurant. In 1969 she married William Porter in Wisconsin, in 1970 both Bill and Karen immigrated to Canada. They lived in Winnipeg for a few years, then moved to Sherwood Park when Bill got hired by Alberta Parks, Karen stayed home as a homemaker. Karen lost Bill in 2002.
Karen will be fondly remembered by partner Garth McMillan of Cold Lake, daughter’s Alyssa (Dave) Newington of Athabasca AB, Lori Porter and partner David Lawrence of Cold Lake, Step son’s Sean McMillan of Cold Lake, Matthew (Samantha) McMillan of Cold Lake, 6 Step Grandchildren all of Cold Lake.
Karen was predeceased by her parents; husband Bill, and brother Jim.
At Karen’s request there will be a small family service at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial tributes in memory of Karen can be made to Alberta Cancer Research, or The Cold Lake Palliative Care Unit.
