Hello Reta and family,
I would like to send my condolences and a few memories. I got to know my nephew, Mike, quite well because I spent a school year with Irene and the family. I was in the sixth grade when John started school and would have had to walk by himself through several farm sites in the community. It was called "cross country" or "as the crow flies" and about one mile and a half.
Mike was about four years old at that time and could hardly wait to start school and would sometimes try to help with homework. He was a "little gentleman" even then and stayed that way. It was actually fun to spend time with little boys for a change because I had only little sisters at that time.
Mike was helpful with little chores and I don't remember when he didn't have a smile on his face.
He spent sometime with Harry and I after I was married and he came to Edmonton for work, I think. He liked to watch Hockey with Harry.After Harry died in 2005 Mike would phone me on occasion and we talked for long periods of time reminiscing about the past and how we would improve things in today's world. I appreciated that and his friendship very much.

To The Karas Families
We are sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Flash back to the younger days when all the Karas machinery would come to do the spring and fall work across the fence from our house. It was something us girls always watched for spring and fall.
