Mike Hayes Obituary

January 20, 1959 – November 24, 2025

Michael Hayes of Sussex New Brunswick sadly passed away on November 24, 2025, at the young age of 66. Known as one of the nicest, and most easy going people you could meet, Mike was hardworking, kind, helpful and deeply dedicated. He held a deep love for the North and spent many meaningful years in the Yukon, creating memories that remained dear to him. Mike found his greatest happiness in the outdoors, enjoying activities such as hiking and kayaking. Mike was also a devoted firefighter, honoured for his service with awards including Fireman of the Year – a reflection of his courage, commitment, and generosity toward others. Mikey doodoo fryhead will be missed more than words can express. He leaves behind loving memories held by his sons Adam and Jay, and by his daughter-in- law Shannon. He is cherished as well by Maureen, Linda and Sam. Mike is survived by his siblings; Barrie Hayes (Debbie), Nancy Hayes (Gary), Theresa White (Ken) and Caroline Hayes as well as many loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Leonard and Eileen as well as his brothers Bob and Farley. Given his connection to the north, a celebration of life will be held in Carcross, Yukon. In honour of Mike, please choose to donate blood.
