FOSTER, Douglas Keith
May 16, 1963 ~ June 27, 2025
On Friday, June 27, 2025, Doug Foster of Pierceland passed away.
Doug will be forever remembered and loved by his children: Shelby Anne Foster and Lane Douglas James Foster; step daughter; Brianna Foster, Sisters: Susan (Paul) Zentner and Marion (Darcy) Foster; Nieces and nephews: Bryan Zentner, Kevin Zentner and Kristen Zentner.
Doug was predeceased by his parents; Anne and Keith Foster.
Doug spent his childhood immersed in the sport he loved—hockey—and especially cherished his summers attending the Penticton Hockey School. Doug also loved spending time camping with his family at Shuswap Lake. Known for his easygoing nature, he made friends wherever he went—often within mere minutes of arriving at a new campground.
Doug dedicated more than 40 years to working in the oil patch. He began his career on the rigs and later operated his own water trucks. He played a key role in building the first five drilling rigs for Trinidad Drilling out of Lloydminster. Over 25 years ago, Doug met Mike Williamson of Momentum Energy, beginning a professional relationship that grew into a lasting friendship. His work took him to many places around the world, including Libya and Albania, where he was widely respected and well liked by all who worked with him.
Outside of work, Doug enjoyed spending time in and around Pierceland, Saskatchewan, where many of his close friends—such as Jason and Selena Wild—reside. But his favorite place was his hunting cabin. In 2003, he started the lengthy process of scoping out the area. An area that seemed very untamed. But Doug thought that it was perfect! With countless hours logged on quads, skidoos, and nodwells, and with the help of some friends, his dream became a reality. Doug spent many years making improvements to the access trails, exploring new areas, putting out baits for Whitetail deer and capturing many pictures of deer, wolves, bears, and birds.
The cabin is where he found peace. He loved feeding the whiskey jacks and a squirrel that he affectionately named Rocky right from his hand. The cabin was where Doug felt most at home, especially when he was accompanied by his children, Lane and Shelby. Together, they created lasting memories that they will carry with them always. His children were a great source of pride to him and he spoke of them often and fondly.
Doug will be remembered as an intelligent, creative, and loyal man who was always ready to lend a helping hand. His generous spirit and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at a later date.
