(Crystal), Pete John (Dorrie), Blaine Angus (Bruce), Kerri-Ann Angus (Curtis), Laurie Angus (Jason), Daylan John, Matthew John; adopted son: Harry Whitford (April); ceremonial son: Eugene Badger (Stephanie); brother: Charlie

John (Lillian); sister: Brenda Vanguard (Rick); numerous grandchildren; chapans; 1 nitanskotapan. 

Walter was predeceased by his daughter: Darlene John- Moosewah; grandsons: Theoren Poitras, Zaeden John; adopted son: Harry Moosepayo; son-in-law: Nelson Gagne; brothers: George Kehewin, Herman Kehewin, Jerome John, Francis John, Gabe John; sisters: Rachel John, Maryann Desjarlais, Yvonne John, Nancy John; nephew: Henry Desjarlais; mothers of his children: Elizabeth John, Emily Angus.
